Syringe Pullback Isn't Best for Verifying Sterile Compounds

We're getting questions about how to optimize safety with "syringe pullback" for verifying sterile compound ingredients.

This is common practice. But pulling a syringe plunger back to show the volume added to the final container...AFTER the med has been added...doesn't PROVE the correct volume or med was added.

The best practice is direct verification...BEFORE ingredients are added to the final container. This check can be done by a pharmacist or with technology, such as bar-code scanners and cameras.
